Blaise High School

Letter from the Headteacher

Dear Parent / Carer

As you will be aware, the Summer exam season for Year 11 students has been cancelled and the Department for Education (DfE) are currently working with Ofqual (the independent qualifications regulator) to ensure that students are awarded a fair grade, one which does not disadvantage any particular group of students.

We are expecting the DfE to release specific guidance to schools shortly, so that we can support our young people in accessing the next stages of their education. Current advice can be found here:  https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-cancellation-of-gcses-as-and-a-levels-in-2020/coronavirus-covid-19-cancellation-of-gcses-as-and-a-levels-in-2020

It is important at this time that schools are able to focus on ensuring students are safe and have support with, and access to, the online resources we are preparing, so we ask that if you have any questions that cannot be answered with the above guidance, you email them to: examsupport2020@greenshawlearningtrust.co.uk and we will try our best to help. However, please do remember that currently, we do not have any information other than what is provided in the link above. We will ensure that any updates provided by the DfE are communicated to you as soon as we receive them.

Finally, as the situation is not yet clear we urge all our students to continue to complete all required work on their Google Classrooms and other online resources to ensure they continue to make good progress. In particular, in subject areas where there is incomplete and outstanding coursework your teacher will be contacting you to ensure we give you the best possible chance of success.

Yours faithfully

Ms K Brown Headteacher
