Blaise High School

Jubilee challenge

At Blaise High School we recognise the importance of children working hard to climb their own personal mountains and striving to push themselves out of their comfort zones to accomplish personal challenges and develop character traits such as courage and resilience.

Following successes of entering the Ten Tors Challenge, students within the Resource Base are eligible to enter into the Jubilee Challenge, an event which runs alongside the Ten Tors Challenge each year.

The Jubilee Challenge is a one-day navigated walk around Dartmoor National Park and is designed for young people aged between 14 and 21 with a range of challenging conditions who complete one of several routes suited to their abilities. Students have the opportunity to walk routes of distances 7.8, 8.7, 11 or 15-miles across a variety of different terrains.

Teams arrive at Okehampton Camp in Dartmoor on the Friday morning with the Jubilee Challenge taking place during the day on the Saturday alongside the Ten Tors Challenge. Teams are accompanied during the challenge by qualified adult walking leaders and staff who are known to them. Teams cross the finish line throughout the Saturday and teams must have completed their route by 5pm to successfully complete the challenge.

Ahead of the event students will undergo a series of training hikes to assess their physical fitness and endurance and help us to make informed decisions over which route is the most suitable for them.

The Jubilee Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for students to develop strength of character whilst being supported to be successful in a completely new situation.

If you have any questions regarding the Jubilee Challenge please contact our Jubilee Challenge Manager, Mr Wallis on wallism@blaisehighschool.co.uk and he will get back to you as soon as possible.

We look forward to supporting your child through this exciting challenge.
